A central location, convenient parking and special amenities. For Transamerica, it was these features that tipped the scale toward City Center Square, a Kansas City retail office building in the heart of downtown.
Scarlett Thompson, an operations director for Transamerica Life Distributors (a unit of Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance Company), said that it was the little things about City Center Square that she values most, which made the decision to locate there so easy. “I like the positive attitudes of the people here. The woman at the front desk always greets me with a smile, and I enjoy the south view of the city from my office,” Thompson said.
Thompson’s reaction to City Center Square’s atmosphere is typical for tenants of the building. City Center Square touts a long list of luxury amenities including a full-service fitness center and valet parking, all of which makes this office building more of an urban sanctuary than simply a place to do business. “It’s nice that I don’t have to walk outside to go to Starbucks in the winter; it’s right downstairs,” said Thompson who’s also looking forward to taking yoga classes to relax after a stressful day.
Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance Company consolidated its Kansas City office and relocated to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, earlier this year. A marketing team of 10 remained in Kansas City and moved into the retail office building.
